El Bur (MCRS) 30 May 2016 – Somali National Army (SNA) soldiers, backed by Ethiopian troops of AMISOM contingent have retaken control of two settlements near Elbur town hours after Al shabaab militants retreat.
Confirming the incident, Elbur district administrator Abdi Hassan Mohamed said Al shabaab fighters have shot and killed two local residents before leaving the areas captured by SNA and AMISOM.
Al shabaab has vacated El Hareri and Oswyne villages located in the outskirts of El Bur town on Saturday night with unmentioned reason upon the advance of the allied troops, according to Mohamed.
After the pull out, the Al shabaab militants moved to other remote countryside areas towards the southern parts of Galgadud region in central Somalia, sources have confirmed to Radio Shabelle.
El Bur district commissioner said Somali and AU troops will continue pushing Al shabaab militants out of the remaining areas in Galgaduud region. However, Al shabaab did not comment on the Govt official’s claim.
